 Yamaha “Raider”
Sep. 11, 2007A new type of cruiser with unique styling and outstanding stability New 2008 North American ModelYamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (YMC) announces the development of the new cruiser model “Raider” mounting a 1900cc air-cooled 4-stroke OHV V-twin engine on a new-design aluminum frame. This new model has been developed around the themes of “artistic design” and “high-level running performance that defies the conventional custom bike image.” The Raider will be released on the North American market as a 2008 model.
The new Raider features unique, individualistic styling that never seen before in a conventional custom model, as well as a pleasing engine feeling. These features are harmonized with a ride unlike anything you expect for a conventional custom bike, characterized by its high level of handling stability that makes this new model a pleasure to ride. Yamaha’s “YCC-I”2008 European model Yamaha YZF-R6Featuring Yamaha’s “YCC-I” electronic control intake and the first magnesium rear frame ever on a production motorcycle for the next evolution in sports performance Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (YMC) announces the development of the latest model change of its mid-class supersport model YZF-R6, mounting on an aluminum frame a 600cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke DOHC in-line-4 cylinder 4-valve high-performance engine with power output that exceeds the equivalent of 200 hp per liter of displacement. This new model will be displayed at the Mondial du Deux Roues 2007 show opening in Paris on Sept. 28 and will be released on the European market as a 2008 model.
This model adopts Yamaha’s new “YCC-I” electronic control intake, which has been developed under Yamaha’s G.E.N.I.C.H. engineering ideal using exclusive electronic control technologies and is now put to practical use to boost engine performance. Another new feature is the lightweight magnesium rear frame made possible by a unique Yamaha technology *1 and adopted for the first time ever on a production motorcycle. By contributing to greater concentration of mass it helps realize the next level of sport riding performance.

*1 This is a further development of Yamaha’s exclusive CF (Controlled Filling) Aluminum Die Casting technology optimized for the production of cast magnesium parts. It makes possible the casting of large, thin-walled pieces that were previously believed too difficult for die-casting.

Yamaha Gen-Ryu

Yamaha is dropping no less than 9 world premiere models on the 39th Tokyo Motor Show coming up later this month. Of special note to us is the Gen-Ryu hybrid motorcycle prototype (damn!) which combines the YZF-R6 600cc engine with a high output, high efficiency electric motor. Combine that with some fat wheels and that long wheelbase and you’ve got a machine said to perform and handle like a “1,000cc class machine.” Eco-power not workin’ it for ya? Ok, well consider it has a vehicle-to-vehicle distance warning system, a “cornering light system” for a little night time knee-scraping action, and a noise cancelation system which is said to allow for an intercom, voice navigation, hands-free cellphone calls, and music player — damn impressive if it really works! And just for kicks, how about an LCD so you can watch those cagers mouth “what the…” as you roll on by.
