HARLEY-DAVIDSON 2007 MDA CONTRIBUTIONS REACH $5.1 MILLION

Harley-Davidson's 2007 fundraising for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) reached $5.1 million, bringing cumulative fundraising for MDA since 1980 to more than $65 million. The announcement was made during the annual Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon held in Las Vegas, Nev. Harley-Davidson Motor Company President and Chief Operating Officer, Jim McCaslin, presented the $5.1 million check on behalf of Harley-Davidson riders, dealers and employees who raised funds for MDA.*

Also announced during the Labor Day Telethon, Mike Neufeldt, a contract employee at Harley-Davidson Motor Company, was named the recipient of the MDA's 2008 Robert Ross National Personal Achievement Award. In 1979, Neufeldt received a diagnosis of Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy (EDMD), a genetic degenerative disease that causes weakness and wasting of voluntary muscles and cardiac complications. However, Neufeldt doesn't let anything slow him down. An author, Web designer and TV personality, Neufeldt has attained personal and professional success with unflagging determination and an indomitable spirit. He's served as a leader and a role model for people with disabilities along the way.
